On November 6, 2025, the Emmelshausen symposium was once again held in the auditorium of Kaiserslautern University of Applied Sciences. As every year, the conference of the Central State Association of the DWA was organized by the Rhineland-Palatinate Ministry of the Environment, professional and engineering associations and the municipal umbrella organizations. The aim was to convey current developments in water management in a compact and practical manner. After the welcome address by Prof. Dr. Marc Illgen, the focus was on the revised Municipal Wastewater Directive (KARL). The presentations offered insights into technical solutions at wastewater treatment plants, processes for the elimination of trace substances and concepts for renewable energies in the wastewater system. A panel discussion delved deeper into questions of implementation and financing. The Emmelshausen symposium was a meeting at a high professional level. Discussions on existing plants and their modernization – including renovation concepts and the upgrade to A102 – were particularly popular. Many visitors were also interested in specific topics such as lamella clarifiers, swinging jet pumps, swinging mixers and fine screen screens. The exchange on efficient solutions for stormwater overflow basins and modern discharge control also met with great interest. The location at Kaiserslautern University of Applied Sciences provided a professional environment and short distances between presentations and the exhibition. Our thanks go to all participants and exhibitors who made the open professional dialog possible.
