In the first week of July, our largest controlled clarifier overflow to date with a total length of 30 meters was installed in the Lake Constance area. The advantage of this design is that it can be installed directly in the basin without a special overflow structure. Divided into three individual elements, the clarifier overflow reliably limits the overflow volume to the required design discharge and ensures a constant discharge up to the maximum water level via the specially designed control curve. As a result, the hydraulic boundary conditions remain stable throughout the entire intake area, which enables a constantly high sedimentation effect of the basin – even when the water level rises – and thus makes an effective contribution to water protection. In addition to the clarifier overflow, six bgu surge flushing tipping buckets were installed, which reliably and powerfully clean the bottom of the basin after discharge without external energy.
